Hanging of the Greens, inside, November 29
Dear Friends in Christ,
I hope you all had a joyful Thanksgiving! For many of you, as for my family, it was not the holiday we are used to. But we had a lovely festivity with just the three of us!
After Thanksgiving, we find ourselves in Advent. And so this Sunday we are excited to celebrate our traditional Hanging of the Greens service at 10:30. Of course, it won’t be quite traditional. Whereas usually many families participate, this year I’ve asked the Mason and Pike clans to represent us all. That will cut down on movement and speaking, and we will have no congregational singing. But the shorter service will still feature the beautification of our sanctuary for Christmas, and we will gather outside after to sing Christmas carols together!
We are employing these cautions because of rising rates and the expectation of increasing infection after the holiday. While the sanctuary can accommodate as many as 40 or more families while observing social distancing, we want to encourage anyone who faced uncertain exposure during Thanksgiving to enjoy the service, live streamed or recorded, on GCAM Channel 12’s Youtube station. Of course, if you have any symptoms, please stay home.
For those joining us in person, our deacons will assist you finding a pew; we may need to seat people in the balcony. Please wear a mask unless you have a medical condition prohibiting it.
The detailed bulletin is available on at this location for those watching at home.
We hope the sights and sounds of tradition will help you enter into the Christmas spirit!
