Consecrating our Confirmands on 1/12
This Sunday, January 12, commemorates the baptism of Jesus. His baptism marks the real beginning of his ministry and epiphany as the messiah and Son of God.
It’s the perfect setting to officially begin this year’s confirmation class, which is now up to seven youth! I’ll have these confirmands come forward after the Passing of the Peace to sit in the front pew, and those serving as mentors sit behind them. (We are still assembling mentors, so maybe you will feel called!) We’ll give them a remembrance of baptism during the reading of the story of Jesus’ baptism, and then I’ve directed my sermon especially to them. After that and a prayer, they will return to sit with their families.
I hope this will be a meaningful way for confirmands and all of us to recognize that they are beginning a sacred journey!
